I know...

perfectly well that I have been bad about blogging in the recent past. That said, I'm back, at least for a night.

I'm curious as to your reasoning on CA Issue 73.

I'm pro-life. I support virtually any restriction on abortion you can find. Letting 14-year old girls get abortions without the knowledge of their parents is not a good idea.

I'll also take this opportunity...to talk about the picks.

    CLE mayor--correct, Jackson won 55-45
    NYC mayor--correct, Bloomberg 56-41
    NJ GOV--correct, Corzine 54-43
    VA GOV--wrong, Kaine 52-46
    SHBOE--of course, correct
Council: Ruffner, not George; right on the other two
Ohio/County issues: Correct on all but 6. I had seen the Dispatch poll on them and was a little nervous; OH voters may elect morons like Taft, but at least they know bad ideas when they see them.
I was wrong about Prop 73.

    As to endorsements...
Jackson's illiterate, but I don't like Campbell even more.
    Bloomberg's tolerable. Ferrer's a union sellout.
I have no love for either in NJ
Kilgore's consultants are morons (re: the Hitler ad.) So are Forrester's, re: the cheat ads.
    SHBOE was not even contested
I liked Zimmerman and I respect Gleisser. Could care less about others.
I think Issue 1 helps this area.
Issue 2 shouldn't be done by amendment.
    Issues 3-5 are awful ideas.
Issue 6 is a good idea.
    Issue 7...too many.

Let me add: I agree with the voters in TX re: gay marriage ban
Oh, and I wish Jimmie Hicks had been re-elected.

My main concern with 73 was that it would cause some people to die from unsafe abortions. That would be their fault, but that doesn't change my reasoning. (To give a comparable situation, if a law would lead to a higher suicide rate, I'd think that would be a reason to not support it.)

I don't think that the benefit 73 would have provided would have been worth that cost.
